Development Administrator [ apply. ]

The Faison Centers of Excellence is inviting applications for the position of Development Administrator. We have built a very strong annual events and giving program and are currently planning capital campaign efforts.

The position offers an excellent career opportunity to work with a rapidly growing organization to build its annual giving program, to begin a planned giving program, implement and oversee a top donor program, endowment, and to take part in the planning of an ongoing capital campaign to support current and future capital projects.

This Development Administrator is a member of the leadership team, reporting to the Vice President of External Relations and working with the Board of Directors and other volunteer leaders to develop a comprehensive, integrated fundraising program. This position helps lead Faison’s public, media and volunteer relations.

•Annual Fund, Marketing and Special Appeals: Oversees development and management of the organization’s annual and special fund campaigns; including but not limited to: board fundraising, direct mail, special appeals and capital campaigns. Ensures accuracy and clarity of all external documents including correspondence, solicitations and event materials. Coordination and review of development marketing materials and school and centers advertising/ marketing with appropriate Faison staff.

•Special Events: Designs, implements and manages organizational special events, including, but not limited to, annual fundraising events, annual meeting and other events to increase individual giving, to expand constituency base and to enhance the visibility of the Faison organization.

•Constituency Building: Provides direction and carries out initiatives to increase the number of individuals who are familiar with and actively support the Faison mission. Manages donor software.

•Staff Management: Works with the Vice President of External Relations, development staff and the Board of Directors to promote cost effective, high quality functioning of the development department. Promotes coordination of development scheduling, including both internal and external events, meetings, and communication and information flow among all Faison School staff on development opportunities.

•Major Gifts: Supports strategies for identifying, researching, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major donors including grant management, foundations, and prospects.

•Planned Giving: Supports the design, marketing, and implementation and monitoring of the organization’s planned giving/bequest program.

Faison Residence - Single Family Teacher [ apply. ]

Description:    General Summary: The primary responsibility of the Single Family Teacher position is to provide a high quality of life and independence for persons served. This is achieved by ensuring compliance with various state/federal /human rights regulations and with an adaptation of the Family Teaching Model. This position is responsible for teaching new skills and managing behaviors to maximize independence in activities of daily living. The Single Family Teacher’s work is primarily performed in the home setting but also in any location they are in with the individuals they support.

Qualifications Include:

  • • A high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelors degree in a human services or related field preferred.
  • • One – two years of prior experience in a position of similar scope.
  • • Knowledge of Family Teaching Model components and techniques preferred.
  • • Experience in behavior analysis and data collection preferred.
  • • Ability to recognize natural teaching opportunities and act upon them.
  • • Ability to communicate through verbal and written mediums.
  • • Ability to work well independently with strong skills in time management, delegation, follow-up, organization and handling several tasks simultaneously.
  • • Awareness of and ability to adapt own leadership style according to the supervisory situation at hand, and knowledge of and ability to recognize motivational patterns in others; effective skills in active listening, coaching and basic employee supervision.
  • • Flexibility in assigned working hours; providing overnight supports as needed.
  • • A high energy level, adaptability, assertiveness, patience and ability to work in a team environment.
  • • Ability to repetitively lift at least 50 pounds unassisted and ability to perform unassisted transfers of disabled adults with adaptive equipment (lift belts, Hoyer lifts, etc.).
  • • Knowledge of and ability to perform Mandt techniques (which include lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, blocking, and grabbing).
  • • Operation of a motor vehicle is required which includes proof of a valid driver license, an ability to maintain automobile liability insurance as required by state law in Virginia and an ability to qualify as a driver under Faison Residence insurance guidelines.
  • • Requires the ability to live on site, in an apartment provided by Faison Residence.

Teaching Assistant [ apply. ]

Description:    The Faison School is always accepting applications for motivated individuals to work with our students as Teacher Assistants in our day school program. New staff members receive extensive mentoring and work as part of a larger educational team to support our students learning objectives. Teacher Assistants are also expected to complete modules as part of an on-going professional development approach to support student instructional objectives. The Faison School is proud to house an ongoing professional development program to allow employees to further develop their own education and teaching expertise.

Qualifications:    Requirements for this position include: passion and experience working with children and young adults, possessing an enthusiastic and energetic demeanor, ability to progress in ongoing professional development opportunities provided by Faison that focus on receiving and utilizing teacher mentor feedback, a desire to teach, a minimum high school diploma and the ability to bend and lift up to 50 lbs. Preferred qualifications include: experience in educating children and young adults, knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis, experience working with individuals with disabilities and a Bachelor’s degree.
Compensation:    $22,300 annually payable semi-monthly

Teaching Assistant - Part-time [ apply. ]

Description:    The Faison School for Autism is accepting applications for motivated individuals to work one-on-one and in small groups with our students as Teacher Assistants in our Early Learner day school program. New staff members receive extensive hands-on training and work as part of a larger educational team to support our students.

This position is Monday - Friday, 8 am - 12 pm.

The Faison School is a drug-free workplace.
Qualifications:    Requirements for this position include: experience working with children, the ability to work with individuals with autism, a high school degree and the ability to bend and lift up to 50 lbs. Preferred qualifications include: experience with Applied Behavior Analysis, experience working with individuals with disabilities and a Bachelors degree.
Compensation:    $10.00 hour, 20 hours per week
